H2R Corp, as both Williams Earth Sciences and Gannett Fleming, provided a staff of seven on-site inspector and technicians to perform a variety of quality assurance and testing services, including inspection and testing of construction materials, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt, SPT Borings, and Geotechnical Engineering Consultation and Reports. Laboratory testing services were provided by our FDOT approved laboratory. H2R's services were specifically retained by the client because of our unique resources and ability to meet the expectations for this project.
Specialty drilling services and laboratory test program was essential for the work with Geo-Solutions to ensure the jet grout columns were meeting project specifications. Oversight of the installation of jet grouting columns was also performed. Jet grouting, a ground improvement technique, enables the center's B-2 Test Stand to meet loading demands from the mass of steel framework, piping, as well as from rocket propulsion. The entire tarmac on the south side of the rocket test stand is being replaced.
H2R Corp, at the time known as Gannett Fleming, provided geotechnical engineering, drilling, inspection, laboratory testing, and construction verification services to Malcolm Drilling, Nicholson Construction, and Bouygues Construction. Additional services provided include soil mix designs, developing a laboratory management database to facilitate those designs, and quality control. H2R's verification coring services were integral in the QC process and provided the key link to make the crucial adjustments necessary during soil mixing to ensure a quality plug. The project required unconfined strength testing on both cored soil cement and wet grabs, as well as permeability and triaxial tests on soils and soil cement. Meaningful management and interpretation of the data was integral to the performance of the geotechnical construction elements of the TBM entry/exit pits. Services also included downhole camera inspection and deploying piezometers for field permeability testing in critical plug areas and entry of the tunnel wall.
H2R Corp, formerly Williams Earth Sciences, Inc., as the geotechnical consultant, performed all of the subsurface exploration and provided foundation recommendations. Using a barge-mounted drill rig, 49 borings were performed over water, along with 128 cone penetrometer soundings. Dynamic pile testing of 56 test and 520 production piles during construction was also performed.
H2R Corp, formerly Williams Earth Sciences, was the Independent Assurance ﬁrm on the Suncoast Parkway I project for Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, which is a part of the Florida Department of Transportation. Our ﬁrm provided ﬁeld and laboratory testing and inspections and also served as the Turnpike’s district materials laboratory manager, overseeing the acceptance testing of seven construction engineering and inspection ﬁrms and ten contractors that worked on this project.
H2R is serving as Geotechnical Engineer for the project and performing support services for various dam construction elements. Field services include exploratory drilling and Cone Penetrating Testing, which is being correlated to density in lieu of conventional field density tests. In addition, H2R is providing multiple quality control inspection staff as well as professional services for engineering including shoring and dynamic pile testing, Contractor Submittals, and project data management services.
